Iran’s Revolutionary Guards are ready to conduct military escorts for cargo ships through the blockade of Gaza, according to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Sunday.
“Iran’s Revolutionary Guard’s navy is fully ready for peace and freedom convoy escort ships into Gaza with all the strength and capability, said Ali Shirazi, Khamenei was quoted as saying to represent semi-official Mehr news agency.
Iranian military intervention would be a provocation for Israel, which accuse Iran of supplying weapons to Hamas, the Islamic group ruling Gaza.
Iran does not recognize the state of Israel and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has often predicted the country close to ruin.
Israel and the United States refused military action against Iran if that country using nuclear weapons, while Iran’s attitude to Israel as a threat.
Iran says its nuclear program for energy and medical, while accusing those countries rejected its nuclear program for technological purposes.
Iranian news agency IRNA, said Iran will send humanitarian aid to Gaza with Iranian-flagged ships. Delivery decisions are consistent with the original plan, namely the delivery of aid to the flag of Iran like other countries.
“Iran’s humanitarian assistance will include food, medicines and medical equipment,” said head of Iran’s Red Crescent Society, Abdolraouf Abidzadeh
Last month, Israeli troops killed nine activists aboard a convoy trying to break through the blockade to deliver aid to Gaza, thus gaining international criticism, especially Muslim countries.
Another ship arrived Saturday and the pro-Palestinian activists vowed to continue resisting the blockade that has lasted four years with a reason to stop sending weapons to Hamas.
Shirazi said Iran will encourage international efforts to lift the blockade. “We will destroy our enemies in cooperation with the international world to conduct direct action and not let them apply cruel,” he said.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would continue to stop the ships arrived off the coast and into the “port of Iran in Gaza”, a hint of Iranian support for Hamas.
Revolutionary Guards have naval forces, air and command structure separate from the army regulair, because loyalty to the supreme leader.
“If the supreme leader ordered, the Revolutionary Guards navy will do the best guard against these ships,” said Shirazi. “Iran is the duty of guarding the people of Gaza to defend the innocent.”
